Getting into Cornell
Getting into an Ivy League university is a dream that many high school students have. It is a dream that even those who seek graduate degrees have.
One of the Ivy League universities that many people are interested in getting into is Cornell. Ranked as one of the top best colleges in America and a “dream college” for many high school students and their parents, Cornell University can be a major aspect to reaching one’s life goals.
Getting into Cornell can be easy if you have the right grades and personality, and you show the university that you have great potential to excel in whatever field you choose. Every year, tens of thousands of students try getting into Cornell. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of this number is accepted. This may seem disheartening but there is a way for you to stand out.
Having good grades is very important when getting into Cornell. But your academic standing is not the only thing that this Ivy League university is looking for. They are also interested in the whole package; your character, promise, and thirst for knowledge. They analyze this through your many extra-curricular activities, summer jobs, volunteer work, hobbies, and other criteria. Getting into Cornell will have your leadership abilities, achievements, compassion for the community, and diligence under scrutiny.
If you feel that you have all the university is looking for, character-wise, getting into Cornell becomes easier if you follow the application process thoroughly. Often, the requirements will depend on the major that you choose. Some colleges require interviews and portfolios. It is also important that you have experience or have shown previous interest in the major that you choose. Others only need the general requirements that the university asks for.
For those who want to be part of the Graduate School, these three requirements are important: registration units, examinations, and the dissertation or thesis. A specific number of units is important. The number of units required depends on the graduate school program.
